Easter is a great time for bunnies, chicks, eggs, chocolate and jelly beans! Here are some fun Easter crafts that you can do to help decorate the house and make Easter dinner more festive. Email pictures of your completed projects so others can see how creative you were! (We'll only post the picture, a first name and age.)
Easter Place Mats
What You Need:
  • Easter cards or pictures from magazines
  • Scissors
  • Lightweight cardboard
  • Glue
  • Clear contact paper
What to Do:
  1. Cut out pictures from old Easter cards, magazines or drawings you've done.
  2. Glue the pictures onto the lightweight cardboard to create a collage and allow to dry. Date and sign the back of the place mat.
  3. Cover the collage with clear contact paper to seal the place mat.

Paper Plate Bunny
What You Need:
  • Large paper plate
  • Small paper plate
  • Glue
  • White cotton ball/large pompom
  • Crayons or markers
What to Do:

  1. Glue the small paper plate to the top of the large paper plate to form a head and body.
  2. Cut out bunny ears from the pink construction paper then glue to the head.
  3. Draw eyes and a nose on the small plate with crayons or markers.
  4. Glue the cotton ball to the back for a tail.

Paper Mache Eggs
What You Need:
  • Paper mache paste
  • Balloon
  • Tape
  • Newspaper cut into one-inch strips
  • Toweling
  • Pie tin
  • Paint brushes
  • Colored tissue paper (optional)
  • Shellac
  • Smock
What to Do:

  1. Make the paper mache paste. When it has cooled, pour it into a pie tin.
  2. Blow up a balloon and tape it to the table.
  3. Dip strips of newspaper in paste and place carefully on the balloon being careful not to pop the balloon. Cover the balloon completely and let dry overnight.
  4. Decorate the egg with paint or colored tissue in pastel Easter colors.
  5. Finish with a shellac for a shiny, glazed effect.


Paste Recipe
  1. Mix the 1/4 cup of flour into 1 cup of water until it is thin and runny.
  2. Stir this mixture into five cups of boiling water. Allow to gently boil for 2-3 minutes.
  3. Allow to cool.

Soda Bottle Baskets
What You Need:

  • Two liter soda bottle
  • Scissors
  • Awl
  • Two clasps
  • Decorations such as lace, buttons, silk flowers, etc.
  • Glue
  • Easter grass in a variety of colors
What to Do:
  1. Measure up five inches from the bottom of the soda bottle then cut the plastic.
  2. Cut a one inch wide strip from the remaining part of the bottle then cut that so that it is about five inches long to create a handle.
  3. Parents of younger children should use the awl to poke a hole in the sides of the basket and near the ends of the handle, older children can do it themselves with supervision. Put a clasp through the handle then the basket on each side and fold it down.
  4. Decorate the basket with lace, buttons, silk flowers or other items. Allow to dry.
  5. Fill with Easter grass.
