Thanks for stopping by my site! Here, you'll find out more about me; the books I have published, both under my name and my pen name; information about works in progress; free eBooks featuring my photography; my writing portfolio with links to many of the stories that have been published; and much more.
In many areas in my life, but especially my writing, I tend to take the road that has been less traveled. I'm not afraid to take chances or explore difficult topics. My writing is sometimes an acquired taste but it is guaranteed to not be what you would expect. I love using humor to counter the dark topics and I rarely write the typical "happy ending" for my stories. You can find out more about my writing in the interview below.
You can't be a writer for children without having a place just for them! In the For the Kids section you'll find information about stories that I've been working on, activity pages, and links to a virtual library with free eBooks for children.
I was chosen as the winner for an African-American History Month essay contest sponsored by the DiPietro Library at Franklin Pierce University in Rindge, NH. (Essay)
My first interview as an author writing under my pen name, Nancy A. Cavanaugh! Read my answers about reading, writing and me. (PDF)
This time I was interviewed by Vermont Public Radio (VPR) about being transgender and covering a transgender issue for the newspaper I worked for that has sparked a lot of controversy in other areas of the country. It was pretty exciting, especially since I didn't have any idea what he was going to use from the two hours that we spoke. (Story or PDF and Sound File)
Interview about the Vermont Standard
A Canadian publication called Monocle interviewed me about the Vermont Standard, the newspaper that I edit for their weekend edition. It is short and pretty descriptive of what is going on now. (Story)
