Works in Progress
A Cornfield of Dreams
Rebecca "Becca" Sanchez is fighting an uphill battle as a lesbian who recently moved to a small town in southwestern New Hampshire to begin a new life as a farmer, following in the footsteps of her beloved paternal grandparents. She faces unwelcomed advances from her lonely farmer neighbor, finding a community that is less than friendly towards gays and lesbians, breaking a heart then possibly finding true love as she tries to learn how to be a corn farmer. This is a book for the 18+ crowd due to the adult content.
The Sherri Forest Mystery
Jan Whiting and her best friends Ginny Davis and Fred Smith, are amateur paranormal investigators. They have investigated sites all over New Hampshire. Their next investigation is at the Sherri Forest, home of former Broadway costume designer Madame Antoinette Sherri. The site had many reports of being haunted and they decided it was time they checked it out. There are rumors there's a treasure hidden somewhere on the site. While they're investigating they bump into someone who is looking to find the treasure and they're in the person's way. How far will they go to protect the property and possible treasure from their discovery? This is going to have some tame adult content so should be okay for teens and older.
George Hanson is a gay transgender man who also happens to be a superhero. Well, sort of. His super power is to see the things most people miss making the clues transparent to him, thus the name Trans Man. He's living with his boyfriend Hank, at least for now. Life is crazy and things are not going well. George realizes it is time to make a change and gives up the cape and costume for a day job using his super powers. When something happens, his real super powers are forced to the surface, much like Deadpool, and he, along with the rest of the world, finds out his true super powers. This is a book for the 18+ crowd due to the adult content. You can read the first drafts of each chapter on the official Trans Man website at transmanthenovel.weebly.com.
Life in a Three-Ringed Circus
Dorianne Foley is a 14 year old who survives her life by hiding in her bedroom when she's home and eating "Easy Baked Brownies"--brownies filled with marijuana that she makes in her bedroom with her Easy Bake oven. The usual unpleasantness of her family life is interrupted by her grandmother's death, discovery of her mother's pregnancy and the threat of two weeks of summer camp while her mother and stepfather go running off to Mexico. When she gets done at camp, she is no longer a virgin and discovers her mother is no longer pregnant, which was the reason for the trip to Mexico. It is too much for her. She cannot keep living there so she asks to live with her father, who has just gotten out of two years in prison for having drugs in the house while she and her sister, Noel, were there. Will she be able to find peace, recovery and a bit of happiness? This is intended for teens but could be useful for adults looking to work with kids who are struggling with many of the controversial topics that real teens are facing every day including dating and sex anxieties, drug use issues, a parent in prison, poverty, abortion, death of a family member and much more.
