The Path to Resiliency
Thank you so much for reading my book and stopping by my website! I plan to have lots of resources for you.
After doing a lot of reading about Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), I discovered that researchers had finally figured out how to address the impacts of ACEs on families. They call them Positive Childhood Experiences. The work is primarily with caregivers and is something that I feel most adults could use, so I refer to them as Positive Life Experiences (PLEs). Then in March 2024, I attended a presentation about The Basics, a program that offers tools for caregivers on how to do what I refer to as organic teaching, where the learning is done whenever and wherever you are without the kids realizing they're learning. There are no workbooks or flashcards, it is just you, your child, and the world around you. It can be a lot of fun for everyone and necessary for your child to learn before they start preschool. Kids are like sponges and have a seemingly endless ability to learn new things - take advantage of this and start today! The one thing that The Basic lists as part of what you can do to help your young child is to manage stress, which is what PLEs can help with as they start with seven stress busters. The Basics and PLEs are a perfect match as one supports the other. In 2022, I created an activity book, Ollie's Epic Adventures, for young children to try to find Ollie, a cute cat . I was sitting at my desk a few weeks after The Basics presentation and suddenly my brain lit up with the idea to create the caregiver's guide and the journal. I hope that you enjoy the fun pictures, the guide for improved resiliency, and a journal to write your journey down The Path to Resiliency. Please share your questions and stories with me!
